Erik Davis () is an author, award-winning journalist, and scholar based in San聽Francisco. His wide-ranging work focuses on the intersection of alternative聽religion, media, and the popular imagination. He is the author, most recently, of聽High Weirdness: Drugs, Esoterica, and聽Visionary Experience in the Seventies (MIT Press/Strange Attractor). He also wrote聽Nomad Codes: Adventures in Modern Esoterica聽(2010),听The聽Visionary State: A Journey through California鈥檚 Spiritual Landscape聽(2006), a critical volume on Led Zeppelin (2005), and聽the celebrated cult classic聽TechGnosis: Myth,聽Magic, and Mysticism in the Age of Information聽(1998).
