James Meetze聽is the author of five books of poetry, including聽Phantom Hour聽(2016) and聽Dayglo聽(2010), which was selected by Terrance Hayes as winner of the Sawtooth Poetry Prize, both published by Ahsahta Press. His two most recent books are聽Neki Novi Hramovi聽(Some New Temples), translated into Croatian by Ivana Bo拧njak (Naklada Bo拧kovi膰: 2020) and聽Kasno u Dugome Sada聽(Late in the Long Now),聽translated into Serbian by Uro拧 Ristanovi膰 (No Rules Izdava拧tvo, 2020). He is editor, with Simon Pettet, of聽Other Flowers: Uncollected Poems聽by James Schuyler (FSG, 2010). His poetry has been translated into Spanish, Turkish, Finnish, Serbian, and Croatian. He is also co-writer and executive producer of the short film,聽The Conservationist, which was an official selection at multiple international film festivals and won Best Thriller: Short at the Grand Budapest Film Festival.聽Meetze holds a B.A. in Literature and Creative Writing from University of California, Santa Cruz, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing: Poetry from Mills College, and received his doctorate in聽聽from 51社区 where his thesis was entitled, 鈥淥rphic Capability and the Lyric Self: Multiplicity and Self-making at the Threshold of Contemporary Poetry鈥澛燞e divides his time between Split, Croatia and San Diego, California, where he teaches writing and film studies at University of Arizona Global Campus and in the MA in Engaged Humanities & the Creative Life at 51社区.
